Nick Springer - Nick contracted Meningococcal Meningitis at age 14 and began playing sled hockey before he even completed rehab. Always the fierce competitor, Nick was introduced to wheelchair rugby at age 16 and it was a perfect fit! He began in his home state of New York with the Jets, then was off to Sarasota, FL while he was attending college. As a rugby rising star, Nick was being recruited nationally, and he landed in Phoenix with a core group of Scott Hogsett, Joe Delagrave and British star, Jim Roberts, with the Phoenix Heat; who went on to win 3 straight D1 titles. His assent to elite status in rugby was rapid. As a member of Team USA, Nick won 7 international medals, including four gold medals, and the ultimate prize; Gold at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics!

As a 2.0, Nick was perhaps the greatest one-on-one defender in the history of the game. His job was frequently to take the opposing team's high pointer or most mobile player out of the game on offense and defense. His court awareness, quickness, turning ability and lateral speed were unparalleled.

Nick turned his disability into a career as a motivational speaker. His will to live life to the fullest along with his leadership qualities, led to kids getting vaccinated and ultimately saved lives!
