Let’s meet Daniel Ortiz! Daniel was working as a firefighter at the time he was injured. He was coming home one evening and was rear-ended after helping at the site of a car accident. Daniel did multiple rehabilitation stints at TIRR Memorial Hermann, when he was introduced to wheelchair rugby. Initially, he thought that the sport was not for him, but he was recruited by the local rugby team in Houston when they saw him working out at the gym. His father encouraged Daniel to try out the sport and he’s been hooked ever since! He loves the competitive nature of the sport and the daily grind to get better! He really likes all the awesome people he’s met and the journey he’s been on with the sport. We are thrilled to have Daniel as part of the USA Low Point Wheelchair Rugby Team that is competing at the World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama!
