Mike DeYoung is a key contributor to the USA Low Point Wheelchair Rugby Team, let’s hear more about him! Mike has previous international experience, as he was a member of the USAWR team in 2007. His journey is marked with accolades for multiple Best in Class Awards at USWRA National Championships. Mike was introduced to Wheelchair Rugby after a friend of his suggested that he should try wheelchair sports! One of his proudest memories is when he was part of the squad that won World Wheelchair Games Championship in Brazil in 2005! A life-changing moment for Mike was when he won Best in Class in his first full season at Sectionals. Mike is a driven and focused athlete that is lasered in on winning a National Championship with his club team, the Northridge Knights, and now he’s using that mentality to help the USA Low Point Wheelchair Rugby Team prepare for the World Games 2022! Mike is devoted to training for competition, but he loves all the time he can spend with his wife and daughter! We are thrilled to have Mike be a part of this squad, and to have him pushing his teammates to be the best they can be!
