As we edge closer to the World Games 2022 in Birmingham, AL

Today, the USWRA is thrilled to announce the members of the staff for the USWRA Low-Point Team! The team is composed of many individuals with decades of experience between them, and we believe will put the team in the best possible position to take GOLD at the World Games 2022 in Birmingham, AL!

Steve Kearley - Head Coach - Steve comes to us with a wealth of experience, with over 31 years playing the sport of wheelchair rugby! Steve has been coaching the Houston Texans for the past 10 years while still taking the court with his teammates as a part of a perennial contender at USWRA Nationals. Steve also has experience in the international arena, playing for Team USA in both 1999 and 2003. Steve has the fire and passion for success on the court and the mindset for building up his team into a single cohesive unit. We are incredibly excited to have him lead our USWRA Low-Point Team!

Sarah Leonard - Assistant Coach - Sarah is an exceptional coach that has been at the helm of the Shepherd Smash for the past several years. During her time with the Smash, she rose through the ranks as a support staff member, equipment manager and as Head Coach. Sarah was extremely successful during her time at Shepherd, which included a USWRA DII National Championship! We know that she has the motor and the drive to work alongside Steve Kearley and will be able to use their synergy to elevate this Low-Point Team!

Michael Klonowski - Team Manager - Mike comes to the Low-Point team with 11 years of experience in the realm of wheelchair rugby and 10 years coaching the Chicago Bears. He has also been part of the coaching staff for 4 international squads, in Bogota, Colombia, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Amsterdam (2x). During the last 6 years, he has worked as the Secretary for the USWRA, managing the daily needs of the league. He is ready to support and manage this team to the best of his abilities, in order to make sure that the team and the rest of the staff only have to focus on the upcoming competition.

Dan Caldwell - Equipment Manager - Dan comes with a vast amount of experience in the world of wheelchair rugby. Dan has been involved with the sport for 16 years, 14 of which he has been the equipment manager for the Brooks Bandits. Almost anyone who has been involved with the sport, especially in the southeast, knows Dan is a tireless workhorse that makes magic happen with any type of equipment. We know that Dan will be a level-headed anchor to this coaching staff.

We cannot express how excited we are to have a team that is preparing for international competition as it represents the USWRA and the USA!!! Thank you to all that applied for the roles on the team. We hope that we hear from all of you again, and that, in the future, you can help us build off of what we are starting, today! For now, we prepare for Birmingham!!!
